France

Well, what can we say about France. When thinking about wine (and food!), France is often the first country that comes to mind. The major wine regions of France are spread all around this amazing country and therefore we took it upon ourselves to complete a lap of France over a 3 month period and visit each of these major regions.
Most of the cellar doors (Maison's) require you to make an appointment (referred to as a "rendezvous" or abbreviated in brochures as RDV) and will often include a tour of the winery or vineyards. There are also Co-operatives, that will have a number of growers wines available for tasting, as well as traders, which are effectively wine shops stocking a large variety of local and other wines, that you can generally visit without an appointment. However while co-operatives and traders do offer a potential alternative for tasting wines, they will not provide the full experience that visiting the local cellar door delivers. Loire Valley
